01
Supercharge your cell power.
The sweet sweet heat has been proven to positively impact mitochondria, the ‘batteries’ powering your cells, which helps your body naturally produce more energy and stay fit.
02
Improves sleep.
There are a whole host of reasons why sauna bathing helps improve sleep! Many hormones are regulated by regular use, including melatonin (the sleep hormone).
03
Reduced risk of heart disease.
Cell regeneration means you slow the aging process. Sounds nonsense right? check out the 20 year study of Finnish men that links two to three sauna sessions per week with a 23% decreased risk of death from cardiovascular disease.
04
Remove nasty heavy metals.
Regular exposure to potentially toxic heavy metals through a multitude of sources means even the most health conscious people still have toxins in the body. Regular sauna bathing helps excrete toxins such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury.
05
Helps combat depression.
A 2024 study found that regular sauna use can help relieve symptoms of depression, when combined with regular CBT sessions. There was significant improvement to mood and negative thoughts than with CBT alone (although the exact mechanism isn’t yet understood).
06
Boosts collagen production.
By improving blood circulation and oxygen flow, collagen production is simulated. Collagen = good!
07
Boosts your immune system.
Sauna use increases white blood cell count from just one use (!!), which has a positive impact on your immune system. It also increases the amounts of a whole host of other things which improve your immune response (lymphocyte, neutrophil, and basophil- don’t ask us what they do!)
01
ImproveS circulation.
Cold water causes your body to go into "survival mode" to maintain its core temperature, which increases blood flow and improves circulation. Including areas such as your hands and feet, improving their long-term circulation.
02
ReduceS inflammation.
Ice baths cause blood vessels to tighten, which moves blood to your core and vital organs. This can help reduce muscle pain and stiffness after exercise (also known as DOMS). There’s a reason professional athletes swear by ice baths!
03
BoostS immune system.
Cold water immersion can stimulate your immune system to produce white blood cells and antioxidants, which can help to fight off infections. It’s NOT a replacement for a doctor though.
04
ImproveS mood.
Ice baths are proven to naturally lower cortisol levels, a.k.a. the stress hormone, in the period following a chilly dip. This can help to relieve anxiety and depression symptoms.
05
Feel more relaxed.
When you're in the cold, your body activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which is linked to relaxation (the sympathetic system is your ‘fight or flight’ reaction). Basically, you’re going to feel goooooood after a dip!
06
INCREASES METABOLISM.
Cold water immersion can increase your metabolism because your body expends energy to stay warm. *Definitely not a reason to not do some exercise though.
07
Reduces menopause symptoms.
Cold water therapy can improve brain function by releasing cold-shock proteins, which can help repair and regenerate nerve cell connections.
